the plantations were one of the highlights of my new orleans trip as they awoke the feeling of experience 'gone with the wind' or 'north and south drama'. check it out:
oak alley plantation.. where could the name possibly derive from?!
beautiful view from the balcony (and at, certainly).
the whole house is surrounded by old trees, wide landscape and antique benches.. 
and certainly imposing levees.
the creole plantation was totally different, but interesting and beautiful, too. at laura we noticed the architectural as well as the historic differences.. 
..only the slavery they had in common..
i'm glad that those days are over now
