we lingered from monument to monument which made me realize that i not only should catch up with studying american history, but also that there were many wars in which the states were involved.. i don't know how to feel about that.
in the afternoon some of us decided to spend the rest of the day in museums, such as the american indian and air & space museum.
the second day we spent with shopping and walking through arlington cemetery, which is one of the most impressive memorial places i have ever seen.
furthermore we visited the foreign office of the austrian public broadcasting institution orf, where we got insight into the work behind our tv and radio news.
the last day was totally up to ourselves and therefore i decided to spend a time out from the group and visited the city on my own: after the moving holocaust museum i went up washington monument..
..which enabled a great view all over the city [e.g. a presidential speech in front of the white house].
well, anyway - as much as i enjoyed the sights and the fact that all the museums are free [what an amazing, yet easy approach to educate people!] i preferred to enjoy every-day-life in the us-american capital. therefore i walked from coffee house to coffee house in georgetown, before i stayed at the perfect place to be - the soho tea & coffee house. freaky people within a homelike atmosphere, incredible cookies and finally strong coffee - i can only recommend!
