2008/08/02 shrimpin'

we got up at 5.oo am to go to emile's for watching oreo. but as she already had found a caretaker, emile took us to go shrimping.

i was too tired to be happy at first..

but as soon as we started, i got excited.



in the middle of the canal between lake pontchartrain and lake borgne we stopped to catch a bunch of shrimps. the amazing part was that we caught a lot of other fish that i had never seen before. as the fishermen here do not work against but with the ecological cycle, we certainly saved them by throwing back into the water.

the shrimps are caught and kept alive in the front side of the boat.

at the end of the trip we went to the deposit, where the shrimps are sold [alive].

as i already said, all the shrimpers and fishermen in the area are single entrepreneurs and just catch enough to make a living. nature's not exploited and the natural cycle is protected.
