2009/10/27 we made it

getting up at 4 o'clock in the morning [or rather at night] is quite a challenge. however, we did it, caught the plane and landed right on time in nyc. matt's friend brynne let us stay at her place for the whole week.. a lovely apartment on the border of brooklyn and queens. interesting neighborhood and really multi-faceted: besides numerous mexican places, a lot of polish people moved into this area. a nice chance to learn some new languages, i'd say.

after a quick cup of tea brynne accompanied us to grand central station,

from where we walked further into the city. while lingering along 5th avenue i finally realized that i was there.. in new york!

and these were our first impressions:

the skyscrapers are so high that they even reach the clouds..

stupid h&m taking over the world..

and finally: the oh so famous times square..

now, is it a pedestrian zone or not?! we still don't know..

the m&m's store looked cool.. but was so brazenly expensive that we went over to the competition..

hershey's. which tastes better anyway.

our super new york pass granted us entry to all different sights & attractions, wherefore we visited new york's madame tussaud's. really not that fascinating.

this is only for my mother..

by the time we were out the sun had already set, wherefore we decided to discover the downtown riverside. a little frustrating since we got lost.. but the confusion enabled some quite nice views.
