2009/10/29 what a wonderful day

today was probably the most eventful of the whole week.. we managed to do a whole lot of fun and exciting stuff, yet stay relaxed. for the most part at least.
we started it off with the national museum of natural history; the new york pass seemed to be kind of a rip-off in that particular case, as it did not cover any additional exhibitions.

thank god, otherwise we would have spent the whole day in it and would have missed so many other beautiful things. like the stunning central park.. enjoy the slideshow [by clicking on the picture].

central park

in the park we looked through our new york pass guide and had the wonderful idea to book a sailboat ride. we lingered through downtown new york to reach the dock.

before taking off we hung out a little in the park nearby .

finally everyone was ready for take off.. and off we went along the east river, passing jersey city, the statue of liberty, and governor's island, under the brooklyn bridge along the new york city coast. simply mind-numbing, since we not only caught the sunset but also the new york skyline by night.

sail boat ride

on our way back we walked through the financial district..

..passing the memorial of 09/11 at ground zero.

for dinner we went to the first pizzeria in the us - lombardi's, a great tip from brynne.

the pizza was huge and tasted really authentic. it was the grand finale of this exciting day!
